Parcel 9/Boston

Upton+Partners submitted a proposal to the City of Boston and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MDOT) to develop Parcel 9, a key downtown site adjacent to the historic Blackstone Block, as a mixed-use urban marketplace fashioned after a traditional Italian market.

The program consisted of market-rate and affordable housing, public improvements to the benefit of the Haymarket Pushcart Association and retail space for specialty food and related product presentation. The project received the full endorsement of the North End community, the Beacon Hill Residences Association, the West End community and the Downtown North Association.
